A Human Becoming

Heart beats–*ka-thump… ka-thump”
Breath inward/outward–*hnnnn…ahhhh…*
Thoughts zoom by–*”I should go do…”*

Feelings come & go–agony & ecstasy
Days pass–work, sleep, routine, adventure
Years flourish & wither–seasons, periods, phases

Connections are made & lost
Wrinkles appear & hair recedes
Scars & memories accumulate

Birth, birth, birth
           &
Death, death, death
—  In every moment
    With each heartbeat & breath

Tell me:
Where is the static “I” underneath the process of life?
Where is this being that endures
When all else arises and ceases?
—  A story, a fiction, a masterpiece of self-creation & self-deception

You are not a human being.
You are a human becoming
—  A realization of unfolding potential, moment by moment
An emanation of openness, that is: basic goodness

Once again, I’m deeply grateful for your support, dimvisionary. I haven’t written any of my philosophy-poetry (philosophtry?) recently. I’m glad you liked it. Many of my earliest posts are in a wordplay style like this. The most recent one was the “Water’s Flux” post about a month and a half ago. I would recommend looking them over. I was describing the style to a friend today–hard to do. I try to condense philosophical ideas into simple lines and then hit the reader with the concentrated conceptual concision. I hope that it gets people to think. It’s difficult to do but a lot of fun. Any feedback for improvement would be much appreciated. Do you think it’s a style worthy of more posts? Is it effective? What do you think?

Again, I appreciate your continued engagement here. *Deep bow*

Safe to say, brother, you aren’t trying, you are doing it. Did this post give you joy to write? Then yes, it’s worthy. Is it effective? Well that’s the same sort of question I’m wrestling (and I’m fine with the question winning). How to make it more effective? Engagement without pretense, some attempt at coherency, and for me, a fervent respect for my reader through not wishing to waste their precious time. We are being indulgent in writing, in reading, the world is on fire so let’s make every word burn. I also enjoy your feedback and all of your posts that I’ve read. Many remarkable writers and photographers here in wordpressland. – John

The way you write is what works for you. This may not work for others, but that’s how art is developed and flourishes with multiple perceptions. Apologies if this isn’t clear. Art is open to interpretation…
